Koriway (koriway.com) is an independent English-language guide to Korean beauty and everyday life in Korea, written by Ari. This page explains what information the site collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. We keep it short and in plain English.

1. Information we collect

Comments

If you leave a comment, WordPress stores the name and email address you type in, the website address if you add one, your comment, your IP address and your browser’s user-agent text. Your email address is never shown publicly. If you tick the cookie box in the comment form, your name, email and website are saved in cookies in your browser for about a year so you do not have to type them again.

Email

If you email us, we receive your email address and your message. We use them to reply to you.

Server logs

Like most websites, our server automatically records technical details when you visit, such as your IP address, browser type, the pages you request and the time. We use these logs to keep the site secure and working properly.

Cookies

The site uses cookies for functions such as saving your comment details. Koriway also uses Google AdSense. Google and other third-party vendors use cookies to show ads based on your previous visits to this site or other websites. Google’s advertising cookies enable Google and its partners to personalise these ads. They may also use technologies such as web beacons and your IP address.

You can opt out of personalised advertising in Google Ads Settings or opt out of some other vendors’ advertising cookies at aboutads.info. See how Google uses information from partner sites.

2. Affiliate links

Some links on Koriway may be affiliate links. If you buy through one, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. Affiliate links never change what we write about a product, and we label them where they appear.

3. How we use information

  • To publish and moderate comments and to block spam.
  • To reply to your messages.
  • To keep the site secure and fix technical problems.
  • To show advertising.

4. Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with the service providers we need to run the site, such as our hosting provider and our advertising partner, Google, or when the law requires it.

5. How long we keep it

  • Published comments and their details are kept until you ask us to remove them or we delete the comment.
  • Emails are kept as long as we need them to answer you.
  • Server logs are kept for a limited time.

6. Your choices and rights

You can ask us to show you, correct or delete the personal information we hold about you, for example the details attached to a comment. Email us using the address on the Contact page. Depending on where you live, such as the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or California, you may have additional rights, and we will respond to valid requests as the law requires. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Some parts of the site may not work as well without them.

7. Children

Koriway is not aimed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 14, or a higher age where local law requires it. If you think a child has sent us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

8. Security

We take reasonable steps to protect the information we hold, but no website or storage method is completely secure.

9. International readers

Koriway is written from Korea. The site is hosted by Google Cloud in the United States, so comments and server logs are stored there, and emails you send us are handled by Google’s Gmail. Your information may therefore be processed in countries other than the one where you live, including South Korea and the United States.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will post the new version here and change the date at the top.

11. Contact

Ari is responsible for privacy at Koriway. For questions about this policy or requests about your information, please email us using the address on the Contact page.
