Who we are

About Koriway

Plain-English guides to Korean beauty and everyday life in Korea. Koriway is an independent English-language guide for people who are curious about Korea. We help you understand Korean beauty products and handle everyday situations in Korea, from your first subway ride to reading a lip tint review.

Who writes it

Koriway is written by Ari, a Korean writer who lives in South Korea. Ari is a pen name. Being Korean and living in Korea allows Ari to read Korean-language sources and explain local context that many English-speaking readers cannot easily reach. We use AI tools to help research, draft and check our guides. Ari is responsible for what is published.

How we write our guides

  • Practical guides are built from official information and reliable sources. Most of our guides end with a list of those sources and the date they were last reviewed or updated.
  • Product guides are based on many published Korean-language reviews. We compare what they agree on and what they do not, and we say clearly when a guide is a summary of those reviews and not our own hands-on test.
  • Korean phrases come with the Korean text, an easy sound guide and the English meaning. The sound guide is an approximate help, not an exact pronunciation.
  • Photos are chosen to match the topic, and we credit the source where that is required.

Our promise

  • We do not pretend to have tried or visited something we have not.
  • Koriway has no sponsored posts. If that ever changes, we will label them clearly.
  • If we use affiliate links, we will say so, and they will not change what we write.
  • When we get something wrong, we fix it.
