That little pink pot is easy to be curious about. But when you already have a lip balm in your bag, is a $24 lip mask really worth adding to your bedside table?
LANEIGE Lip Sleeping Mask makes the strongest case for people who enjoy a rich, glossy layer before bed. The appeal is softer-feeling lips in the morning, with a sweet berry scent that makes the last step of skincare feel a little more fun. If you prefer a balm you can barely feel, its generous texture may be a bit much.

First, the texture: this one makes itself comfortable
Think soft, glossy balm rather than a thin gel that disappears. In the pot, Berry is pale pink; the interest on the lips is the shine and cushioned feel. It is the sort of texture that makes sense when you are winding down and do not mind feeling a layer on your lips.
Is it sticky? A little tack is possible, especially with a thick layer. LANEIGE describes the finish as non-sticky, while one seven-night Berry review found a slight tack without finding it bothersome. Applying too much felt heavy to that reviewer. Think cushiony and noticeable, rather than a balm that vanishes as soon as you put it on.

What makes people reach for it again?
What made both reviewers want to keep reaching for the pot was next-morning softness. In Who What Wear’s month-long Berry review, lips looked less flaky and the writer felt less need to grab another balm immediately after waking. The seven-night review also described lip color going on more evenly.
That gives it a useful place in a lip routine: the evening before you want to wear your favorite tint, rather than a last-minute attempt to make dry-looking lips behave. If you love a velvety lip look but do not love how every little flake catches the color, the idea is especially tempting.
For the color itself, our guide to glossy, velvet and blurred lip tints helps you choose the finish you actually want.
The berry scent is part of the experience
Berry smells sweet and fruity. The seven-night reviewer found the scent noticeable without being overpowering. If candy-like lip products make your routine more fun, that is part of the charm; if you dislike them, the pretty pink jar is unlikely to change your mind.
Vanilla, Gummy Bear and other scents are available too, but switching the scent is still choosing a scented lip product. If fragrance-free is your preference, this range is not the most natural starting point.
Bedtime is easy. Daytime works too
LANEIGE recommends a generous layer before bed; use less if that feels too heavy. In the morning, gently wipe away any excess if needed. There is no timed removal or peeling step to fit in.
Despite the name, it does not have to stay beside your bed. LANEIGE also recommends a thin morning layer before the rest of your lip routine. For a glossy bare-lip day, that may be all you want. Before tint, keep the amount light so you can still enjoy the finish of your color.
The jar does ask a little more of you than a twist-up stick or squeeze tube. Scoop with clean fingertips or a clean spatula. That is easy enough at home, but the tube below is more convenient for applying on the move.

Sleeping Mask or Lip Glowy Balm?
If you like LANEIGE but are really shopping for something to keep in your bag, look at the Lip Glowy Balm. The choice is as much about where you will use it as how much product you get.
Lip Sleeping Mask
20g jar · Berry US$24
Choose it for a richer bedtime layer and a jar that lives with your evening skincare.
Lip Glowy Balm
10g tube · Berry US$19
Choose it for easy daytime top-ups. LANEIGE describes this as its lighter, portable balm, with sheer color and shine.
The mask gives you twice the amount for $5 more: $1.20 per gram versus $1.90 for the Berry tube. The tube earns its place through convenience. You do not need both just because they look good together.

So, does the $24 price make sense?
At $1.20 per gram, the 20g jar is a fairly substantial lip-care purchase. Its value depends less on collecting every scent and more on whether you will enjoy reaching for it. If a fruity, glossy balm makes your nighttime routine nicer, one jar is a reasonable way to try it.
If your current balm already leaves your lips comfortable and you are perfectly happy with it, there is no need to replace it. LANEIGE is an appealing upgrade to the experience, not a compulsory extra skincare step.

Who would enjoy having this on their nightstand?
Someone who looks forward to that last cozy skincare step. Someone who likes a juicy shine, a sweet scent and a balm that feels substantial. For that person, Berry is an inviting first pick: one 20g jar, used and enjoyed, makes more sense than a basket of scents.
If thick balm or fragrance usually puts you off, spend the $24 on something that fits your preferences better. The best lip product is the one you actually like wearing.
